WaterWorks conception is that everyone in the World should have access to clean drinking water. …but obviously this is far from reality. That’s why we have established a foundation to provide clean drinking water for the financially disadvantaged population in Cambodia.
Clean drinking water is a luxury
In the West we are blessed with human rights. The right to safe drinking water and the right to education are no current topics for us. These are obvious rights. In Cambodia this is far from reality. The second most important death cause of children below the age of 5 is diarrhea due to polluted water.
The poverty is huge in Cambodia. World Fact Book states that Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in Asia. 17,7% of the population lives under the poverty line. That’s less than $50 a month. Koas Kralar is one of the most dry regions of Cambodia.
Goals
Our main target is to raise funds and donations for the purpose of clean drinking water, education and health for the disadvantaged children of Cambodia. On the longer term we want to make sure the population becomes more self-sustaining.
Ambition
If the foundation grows, we also would like to help surrounding villages to clean drinking water. Furthermore, we would like to install solarpanels at the school in Arai and an annual fee for the local (voluntary)school-cook and janitor. In addition, we seek help from a local organisation providing education about agriculture and health issues.
